About

Hello World!

Poverty has always been my persistent companion for decades now. I heard it has no desire of leaving me. But I do. And I have plans to finally leave this  this dear fellow of mine behind.

I prefer to be known as the great Don Engot someday. Engot is a local language for having a bottom level of intelligence or for being stupid. I was once called "engot" mainly because my family name sounds that way. But I have no problem with that.

The label does not make an impression of an adverse characterization of myself except for the fact that I am already at my mid thirties and yet not getting any richer anytime soon. That to me still amounts to being an engot or stupid. Having spent three decades of life without accumulating tangible wealth should be called a big time engot. Walang diskarte. But at last, I recognized that I have a chance to do things in a better way to have my feet off the mud. I have got a plenty of chances I think.

I owned the name "Don Engot" for the sake of mocking the irony of everything I am now. It is to emphasize the odds I am in at this moment in order for me to deal with it more effectively. You see, I am poor man. And as of this writing this writer's net worth is ZERO. And it has always been that way for my entire life. My liabilities sit greater than my assets. I have debts. And I am stuck in a job with a salary that did not increase for four years now. Imagine that. I am stuck in the mud.

I do not own a house. The house I live in is my wife's. She can kick me out anytime. That house belongs to her and our kids. Not me. I have no car. I have no touchscreen cellphone. I wear a watch I bought from a bangketa in Quiapo Manila. I get my clothes from ukay-ukay. I use the same leather shoes for work for six years now, the same shoes I used in my wedding. Do not ask. I have the soles changed every year. My parents are poorer than me. Speaking of properties, they got nothing but more of nothing. Perhaps the only good thing that comes with not owning anything is I do not have to pay property taxes to the government.

But hey, I am trying to change the course. Yes I am poor and I expect people will just brush me off for ambitiously talking about how to become rich while owning nothing to boast around.. But people are intelligent, specially people who read blogs. And they understand that my case is not really about me being poor. My case is all about how can I become rich. I know I am at the best position to give a blow by blow account of my own journey to riches, with much break or break situations, I hoped to inspire myself more. people will resonate with me not because I am a poor guy but a poor guy trying to be beat all odds. And if people are caught inspired by my story, that would be a huge bonus.

So please help me welcome Don Engot to the world!
